MG X-Power SV
David Knowles
ISBN: 1861266782
Hardback
Review:
The MG X-Power SV is MG Rover's supercar. Developed by the MG team under chief designer Peter Stevens, who is also responsible for the McLaren F1, the SV originated in Italy as the De Tomaso Mangusta. This detailed full-colour book tells the story of how the Ford V8-engined SV was developed from the Mangusta into a good looking high-performance car that has won plaudits from the press and which is still in the process of full launch on to the open market and the motorsport scene. Written with the full co-operation of the MG team, this book is a fascinating window on to the gestation and birth of a new sports car.
MGA & Twin Cam Gold Portfolio (1955-62)
R. M. Clarke
ISBN: 1855200783
Announced in 1955 to replace the TF the MGA was a radical change compared with the older cars. It had a streamlined and curvaceous full-width body. This was a car in need of extra performance and in 1958 the Twin-Cam came with a twin-overhead-camshaft, 1588cc version of the B-series engine. Like many other short run vehicles the Twin-Cam has attained cult status and is much sought after. The cars to benefit from this development were the later 1600 and Mk II with larger engines and good performance. This is a book of contemporary road tests, new model introductions, specification and technical data, driver's reports, racing, record breaking, touring, buying second hand and history. Models covered include: 1489cc, CoupT, EX181, 1588cc Twin Cam, Peco Supercharged, 1600, 1600 MkII, MkII Competition.
