A practical manual written with the home restorer in mind. Well illustrated and with clear instructions, this manual guides the amateur through dismantling, cleaning, repair, and rebuilding. Special chapters on steering gear, suspension, brakes, electrics and trim. Includes many diagrams.

Review:

An absolutely essential reference when considering the purchase of, particularly your first, MGB. At this stage the most important section covers what points to look for when viewing an MGB, and gives a guide as to how much repairs or replacement will cost in each case - useful in negotiations with the vendor. I have used it to purchase two MGBs (and avoid others), and in both cases I ended up with exactly what I expected. Once you have purchased your car the sections on restoration, particularly the bodywork, are very detailed. Those on mechanical restoration give useful tips and dodges when working on an old car, but other books give a more detailed description on basic disassembly and assembly, and on electrics. In summary - an absolutely essential part of an MGB owners library.

A detailed history of MG saloon cars, this new title studies cars from the 1920s to 1970s, including the Triple M models - Magna, Magnette and Midget - the VA/SA/WA models of the late 1930s, the post-war Y-Types (70 mph off only 1250cc) and the popular ZA/ZB Magnettes of the BMC era. The text is supplemented by 150 photographs researched from the MG archives, and 100 colour photographs specially commissioned for this book of 16 interesting examples of restored MG saloons.
